lovely stuff: going green

here lately i’ve reeeeeally been craving to get some plant life inside our house. we recently visited the amazing bonsai house on greenville avenue where they’ve got all kinds of gorgeous trees, bamboo plants, everything you can think of! the only thing that stops me from keeping plants in the house are the kitties. well, really, just theo (my crazy one) is the only one i worry about. it’s a rare occasion for us to even have a bouquet or flowers on the dining table. they get a little crazy and destructive around any kind of plant life, dead or alive… leaves, flowers, grass. but i don’t want that to stop me from keeping beautiful plants here and there!

canaan and i have talked about building terrariums for a little while. i think this is a nice alternative to normal flowers for cat-lovers like us. this way the plants can be protected from kitty paws but are still easy to see and look beautiful.

when i started researching more about making them i learned that there are TONS of different kinds of terrariums you can build. i never realized there were so many! here are a few favorite examples to get your mind wandering.
